Catching Up Before Summer

Well let's see, where are we... Rhiannon recently won the Mia Steiner Performance award for her performance of the "Star Spangled Banner" (email me if you want the Link to YouTube), Delaney won an Honorable Mention for her story she wrote (she was one of the youngest students to be considered for the Award).

Mom and Pop got back from their most recent trip to the Galapagos Islands, Pops back up at the Lake and getting it ready for the incoming invasion of grandchildren that ensues during the summer months :)

I'm finalizing up the summer tour schedule with Detour , doing landscaping at home, typical housework stuff, and trying to deal with the inevitable wrist surgery that I will have to undergo this Autumn when the band's schedule starts to wind down.

I'll try to keep more on top of the site as things happen... (yeah I know I've said THAT before! :) )

thanks for your interest everyone!

-Sean
Ray and Barbara Riding the Rails in OZ and on "The Silk Road"

In trying to catch up I wanted to post up a few of the trips that Mom and Pop did the past year, I'm not sure if I posted it previously, but one of the trips they took this year was a Railride across Australia. From Sydney to Perth the trip was described as "a whole lot of sitting" by Pop, whilst Mom was typically herself and took every opportunity to hike/walk/climb and take a lot of pictures (nothing new there :) )... I'll try to get them loaded up on the site upon her return of her most recent trip.

After that was the other big Railroad trip... (I get the hint Pop doesn't like driving too much anymore... can't blame him) from Hong Kong to Moscow.
Lots' o pics from that one as well... I took this opportunity to start "mapping" their trips like Rhiannon and I did 5-6 years ago when they were doing the "Round the World" Arunbank trips. So the Big World Map in our hallway now has threads marking the trips as well as the pushpins marking different family homes and trip destinations.

Like I stated previously, once Mom gets back from birdwatching in SouthEast Asia (Pop had NO desire to revisit Vietnam/Cambodia) I'll be certain to get her pics up on the site for everyone's enjoyment.
Trying to catch up from August

OK, so let's see ifn I can get all this into one story....

September brought us to Rhiannon starting 5th grade this year, and due to "Aunt Karen" aka "Mrs. Underwood" teaching 5th grade at MCS, Rhiannon was put into Mr. Cohen's class (oh, I remember THOSE days of "Silent Seatball" and the Songs, and a great time)... She really seems to be enjoying the classes and has a great group of friends. Other than school happenings, she's been keeping up with the skiing program eschewing snowboarding for the "two sticks" mentality (That's my girl!)...

Delaney's 1st year of "Big School" has been going well... reading up a storm, doing a few School plays. concerts, and "Morning programs" (a sort of Kindergarten take on Morning News Shows)...

Ok, more follows, but I don't want to take up too much space on the main page :)
(not like I don't have time :) )

So let me wrap up this little welcome message, and I'll post something up soon letting you all know (who still read this) what I know about here in Kelly Corners, where in the world is Ray and Barbara, and anything else that comes to mind.

welcome aboard Shelly, and thank you for showing interest, and in doing so breathing some new life into the site! :)

Graduation party turns into family reunion

OK, so technically it's in Roxbury, but Last weekend, Laura Graduated High School, and Delaney graduated from Pink Elephant Preschool. Since Drew's grad party went so well with me doing the "catering" whilst the others were at the ceremony, Karen and I decided to do the same this year.

What a success!!! At first there was a bit of a fright on having "too much" food, but when we saw Uncle Daryl (whom I haven't seen since my days in Utah), Aunt Karyl and her family, "grandma" Betty Munro, and then lo and behold Aunt Maggie and her family all the way out from the Sun-soaked State of Arizona showed up much to our surprise. Aunt Janice continuing to represent the Beken Clan from Bloomville, and I apologize in advance for not listing anyone else, but I kind of starting to run out of "memory" as I saw the Underwood family start rolling in along with many other friends and family members.

It was a perfect day weather-wise... nice breezy day to keep the flies at bay, great temperature with plenty of sunshine, and just a great day to hang out, enjoy some good food, music, and socialize.

Con"Grad"ulations to Laura and Toots... and once again I apologize in advance for leaving anyone out.

Pictures are available up on the site Click Here (Remember, you must be logged into your account to view them. and due to the increase of bogus email accounts, I've been forced to manually add accounts as needed, so if you don't have one setup, or you forgot your user/pass, please just fire me off a quick email)

Thanks,
Sean
Double Trouble hits the Catskills...

Well, the Norris Brothers Dominick and Garrett came in the other night from Utah to spend the summer working up in Newcomb. After last years "Big Pond Jam Band"'s big success (furthering my own music career with Detour, Rhiannon's first taste of singing to an audience, as well as getting Dom and Garrett really into performing on bass and guitar)
I had recently read in the local paper on how "Casey Joes" in Arkville was planning on a "Teen Night" featuring local teen musicians and a place for them to jam out.

So Grandma Barbara once again trucked down some teenagers to Arkville where the boys were welcomed to the cozy atmosphere and a few adoring fans, and considering the band that was scheduled that night had cancelled, they had been "bumped up" to Headline status... (All without even having a set list or much experience of jamming in front of people).

By the time I had shown up, Rhiannon was singing and playing with her own fellow classmates (Her friends parents own the establishment), and the twins were jamming away on bass and guitar.

When I heard the band had reneged on the deal, I asked the proprietor if he wouldn't mind if I helped "Get this party kicked off on the right foot".. and thus began a really fun night of "musical musicians"... Where guitars, basses, and keyboards were being swapped out sometimes in the middle of songs!

A GREAT time was had by all, and I highly recommend that anyone looking for a friendly coffee shop geared for "Kids of all ages", great coffee, WiFi access, and a safe haven for jammin.. contact Casey Joes in Arkville. (845) 586-JOES or caseyjoes@catskill.net.

I'm fairly certain that this will become another "tradition" to the Norris Invasions to come :)

Have a great summer folks, and congrats to all students and teachers who made it through yet another year! :)

-Sean
Especially Delaney's last week of Birthday Parties :)

As usual, you have to be a registered member in order to view em, but if you have an issue, just get ahold of me (sean) to re-activate your account so you can enjoy em.
